Research Interests

As a 2024 fellow of the Prestigious Golisano Institute for Developmental Disability Nursing, my current research focuses on the disciplinary disparities faced by Black children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). I am particularly interested in exploring how systemic biases, racial stereotypes, and disparities in educational and healthcare systems contribute to disproportionate disciplinary actions against these children. By examining the intersection of race, disability, and school discipline, my work aims to shed light on the unique challenges faced by this vulnerable population and advocate for more equitable, culturally competent approaches to care and education.
